Virginia Linkous

Virginia Mae Armes Linkous, 90, of Lakeland Drive, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Princeton Health Care. Born on May 8, 1924 in Tazewell County, VA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Effie Grey McMullin Armes. She had been a Mercer County resident since 1952. She was a retired Avon sales representative and enjoyed wedding planning and consulting. She was a longtime member of Brushfork Baptist Church and later attended Immanuel Baptist Church. She served in the WMU and in mission education at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Thornton Linkous; and 2 brothers, John Thomas Armes and Robert Grey Armes. Survivors include: 4 sons: Ronald Linkous and wife Freda of Bluefield, VA Wayne Linkous and wife Pat of Asheboro, NC David Linkous and wife Donna of Shady Spring, WV James Linkous and wife Pam of Bluefield, WV Daughter: Anita Deal and husband Junior of Conover, NC 4 Grandchildren: Senior Airman Steven Linkous John Linkous, Mason Linkous and Bethany Linkous Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Dan Jividen officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA where members of the Brushfork Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00-2:00 at the funeral home. In honor of her love for and work in missions, the family requests memorial contributions to the Lottie Moon Christmas Mission Offering of either Brushfork Baptist Church or Immanuel Baptist Church.
