Flossie Myrtle Chapman

Flossie Myrtle Chapman, 95, of Domingo Drive, Anawalt, passed away Tuesday morning, November 11, 2014 at her home. Born on May 29, 1919 in Saltville, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lewis and Pearl Irene Allison Thompson. She was a 41 year member of the Long Point Missionary Baptist Church at Spencer Curve in Anawalt. Her joys were going to church and spending as much time as she could with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and loved ones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Kelly Chapman; 2 sons, Donnie and Michael Chapman; a daughter, Shelby Moorehead; 3 grandchildren, Paula Bailey, Michael “Mikie” Chapman and Janice Chapman; 7 brothers, Johnny, Claude, Issac, Ed, Ribe, Fred, and Frank Thompson; and 5 sisters, Beaulah Thompson, Kance Thompson-Chapman, Kathleen Thompson-Surber, Ima Dell Thompson-Jackson, and Kate Thompson-Collins. Survivors include: Sons: Claude “Sop” Chapman of Anawalt Bobby L. and Maxine Chapman of Lynchburg, VA Thurman and Linda Chapman of Anawalt Bill and Judy Chapman of Thorpe Jimmy and Paulett Chapman of Rustburg, VA Brother: Freal and Eleanor Thompson of Kegley Sister: Nancy E. Taylor of Chilhowie, VA Grandchildren: Belinda, Becky, Teresa, Jess, Scotty, Danny, Michelle, Ashley, Jimmy, Kelly Wayne, Sarah, Jerry “Brosie”, Carrie, Will, Aaron, Amanda, Becky, and Lory Beth 24 great grandchildren A host of nieces, nephews and special friends whom she loved very much Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Donnie Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Joey Fields and Curtis Surber will serve as honorary pallbearers.
