Billy Gene Duncan

Billy Gene Duncan, 70, of PO Box 102, Montcalm, peacefully departed this life at his home on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 with his daughters by his side. Born on February 10, 1944 in Montcalm and was a son of the late Lewis Alva and Eunice Mae Beggs Duncan. He was a graduate of Montcalm High School and a retired as an Engineer for Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He was a member of the armed services and proudly served his country. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a simple man who lived his life his way. He was an avid hunter, loved fishing, gardening and his grandbabies. He had an open door policy with his home and heart and never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Kaye Stasheen Duncan; and a sister, Carol Reed. Survivors include: Daughters: Valerie Bailey and husband Herman “Stinker” of Montcalm Teresa Conley and husband Danny of Montcalm Susan Harmon and husband Timothy of Montcalm 3 grandsons: Andrew Lee Bailey and wife Candace of Montcalm Tyler Conley and Hunter Harman of Montcalm Granddaughter: Courtney “Corky” Conley of Montcalm 3 brothers: Tommy Duncan and wife Linda of Smith Mountain Lake, VA Bobby Duncan of Sandlick Road Gary Duncan of Montcalm 4 sisters: Shirley Helmandollar and husband Ray of Montcalm Pat Blevins and husband Wayne of Montcalm Linda Kirchhoff and husband Gary of Smith Mountain Lake, VA Diane Piat and husband Robert of Winterville, NC A host of nieces and nephews Family and friends are invited to a service to celebrate his life on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Sherman Duncan officiating. Friends may call prior to services, from 5:00-7:00 at the funeral home. Through the tears and sorrow may through the night, peace will come with the morning light. Until we meet again… It was his request to be cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to Montcalm Elementary Bible in the Schools, 838 Rock River Road, Montcalm, WV 24747.
