Daniel R. Taylor, 91, of Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born on August 23, 1923 in Jenkinjones, he was a son of the late James and Pearlie Myers Taylor. Dan was retired from CONSOL Coal with 41 ½ years of service and was a member of the UMWA. He was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Bluewell and attended the Edgemont Baptist Church when his health allowed. He was a member of the Bramwell Masonic Lodge and the Beni-Kedem Shrine Temple in Charleston. He was also a member of the Bramwell Chapter of the Eastern Star. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in World War II, where he was the recipient of three Purple Hearts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Lawrence, Frank, Joe, Bill, Aubrey, and Robert; and a sister, Tess Creasy.

Sister in law: Doris Butt of Pinnacle Rock
Several nieces, nephews and many friends
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Hugh Cole officiating.. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Mark Taylor, Jim Jewell, Sherman Tomblin and Everett Bishop serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard
