Joyce Conlee Pennington

July 11 was the day Joyce went home and angels rejoiced. Born September 22, 1933 in Maybeury, WV, she was the daughter of Charles and Mollie Bennett Conlee. She was a resident of the Bluefield, Montcalm area her entire life. She was a member of Southview Church on Rt 20. She worked as a homemaker and did what she could to raise three daughters Donola Hicks and husband Bruce, Bluewell, WV, Michele Williams and husband Daniel, Bluewell, WV and Kimberly Riffe and husband Lee, Bluefield, VA. Also surviving is her special niece, Deborah McBride and husband Mac of Nicholasville, KY. She also had stepdaughters Ann Belcher and Dove Hundley. She was the last living member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters Pauline Tabor (Earl), Mary Black (Walton), Virginia Helmandollar (Ray), Helen (Alice) Belcher (David) Eunice Mathena (Ray), Nancy, Arbutus and Violet Conlee. Brothers Frank Conlee (Cecil) and Charles Conlee. Infant grandson Charlie Neal. She is survived by her daughters and six grandchildren David Hicks (Beth), Alex and McKenzie Riffe, Duane (Ashley) and Veronica (fiance' Ryan) Neal and Matthew Murray. Six great grandchildren Caitlin and Ashton Hicks, Dalton Neal and Braxton Brewster and Emily and Ashley Lanier, a host of nieces and nephews, and last but not least her favorite grandpuppies Ruby Mae and Cubbie Bear. Also surviving are her very special caregivers Sammy Cox, Carleene Mills and Ravena Meadwell and Wendy Wellman at Hospice Amedisys and her staff for the care and compassion they showed our mother. Funeral services will be conducted Monday July 14, 2014 at 7:00 pm with Pastor Bernard (Mac) McBride officiating at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Friends may call 6 to 7 PM. Private graveside services will be Tuesday July 15, with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
