Wendell Bruce “Dad” Webb, 84, Pageton River Road, Pageton, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at his home. Born on April 23, 1930 in O’Toole, he was a son of the late Walter G. Webb, Sr. and Hester Hurd Webb. He was a retired coal miner with 38 years of service to US Steel. He was a decorated veteran, serving in Korea as a tailgunner. Dad was an avid sports fan. The WVU Mountaineers and the NY Yankees were his favorite college and baseball teams. He was a regular at the Skygusty and Wolf Creek golf courses for many years. He also spent many hours on the river fishing and in the woods with his “boys”. He definitely made many memories with them that they can always look back on. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Norman, Green, Aurora, Ann and Margaret; and a son, Wendell Ray Webb. Left to cherish his memories include: Wife: Nancy Shrader Webb of Pageton Daughter and Son in Law: Judy and Jim Coe of Rocky Gap, VA Daughter in Law: Elaine Webb of Pageton Six grandchildren: Todd (Angie) Webb of Princeton Samantha (Jeffrey) Bailey of Bluefield Tonya Webb and Caleb Webb of Princeton Leah and David Coe of Rocky Gap, VA 4 great grandchildren: Ethan Webb, Kayla, Bethany and Brett Bailey Brother: James (Irene) Webb of Norfolk, VA Sisters: Beverly (Pat) Patton of Laurinburg, NC Gale Henderson of VA Special Sister in Laws: Mollie Webb of Abbs Valley, VA Special Friends: The Whitt Family and the Stepp Family Caregivers: Debbie Wycoff and Caroline Mitchem Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Princeton with Minister Jim Coe, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where Todd Webb, Ethan Webb, Caleb Webb, Jeffrey Bailey, Brett Bailey, David Coe, and Jerry Stepp will serve as pallbearers. Chris, Rod and John Whitt, and Ray Wooldridge will serve as honorary pallbearers. Military Honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veteran’s Honor Guard. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell.
