Raymond Massaroni

Raymond Massaroni, 94, of Bluewell, WV passed away on June 11, 2014 in Princeton, WV. Born in Dijon, France on December 4, 1919, he was the son of the late Premo and Emmilana Imbert Massaroni. He was a retired miner with Eastern Associates in Herndon, WV. He was also a retired Sergeant of the United States Army, having served in World War II, including 2 years in Kodiak, Alaska and 23 years in the WV Army National Guard. Other than his 3 sons, he was most proud of his time in military service. He was of the Catholic faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Armond Massaroni, Earl Massaroni and a sister, Virginia Amici. He is survived by Evelyn Wood Massaroni, his wife of 67 years, 3 sons, Darrel Massaroni and wife, Sue of Mt. Dora, Florida, Michael Massaroni and wife, Michelle of Princeton, WV and Mark Massaroni of Bluewell, 5 grandchildren, Darci Burke, Ashley Navarro, Sam Mitcham, Nolan Massaroni, Brittany Massaroni and 6 great-grandchildren, Jaden, Parker, Evelyn, Mackenzie Grace, who was born on her great-grandpa’s 90th birthday, Arianna and Kobe. He is also survived by one sister, Yolanda Glass of Washington, NC. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA with Father Gregory Lyttle officiating. Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the WV Honor Guard. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 at the funeral home. Family and friends may call or visit the family home this week. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
