Mallen Dee “Zeke” Brock, 74, of Walnut Street, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on July 31, 1939 in Pioneer, LA, he was a son of the late William D. and Alice Inez Ragus Brock. He had been a resident of Bluefield for 12 years and was of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran of the US army and spent 9 years serving and earned the rank of S/Sgt. He worked for Butterfield Golf Cart Inc. as a mechanic for over 20 years and was a wood craftsman. After he retired, he handcrafted many pretty items for family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Berwick and brothers in law, Thomas (Budge) Shrewsbury and James Karl Shrewsbury. Survivors include: Wife of 48 years: Shirley L. Shrewsbury Brock of the home Sister: Ella and John Allbright of AR Brothers: Billy Max Brock of LA John Edwin Brock of TX In laws: Archie Berwick of TX Lois & Irvine Caswell of GA Carol and Fred Duncan of Bluefield Richard and Kathy Shrewsbury of VA Donald and Judy Shrewsbury of Bluefield Betty and Steve Pintur of GA Olivia Shrewsbury Miller of Bluefield Many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors His cat Bobbi and the squirrels and birds that he liked to watch and feed Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Minister Buddy Goins officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veteran’s Honor Guard. Friends may call on Friday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
