PRINCETON — Mary Helen Yates, 90, of Princeton and formerly of Elkhorn, WV went home to be with her Lord and Savior in the early hours of Easter Morning, April 20, 2014 at Princeton Health Care.Born on February 6, 1924 on Browning Lambert Mountain in Mercer County, she was 90 years old and the daughter of the late Thomas and Inez Blevins.She worked in McDowell County as cook at Switchback Elementary for many years. She was a member of the Maybuery Church of God. Prior to Princeton Health Care, she lived with her daughter JoAnn Miller in Princeton.She was a devoted wife and mother, but above all else she was a Prayer Warrior for God. She loved Jesus Christ with her whole heart and now resides with him forevermore.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Young Yates, her granddaughter Jennifer Marie Yates as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law: Elsworth and Louise Johnson, Edward and Nancy Johnson, Allen and Delphia Johnson, Thomas Blevins and her sisters and brothers-in-law: Dovie and George Bentley, Thelma and Arthur Simons.Survivors include her three children and their spouses: JoAnn and Alvin Miller of Princeton, Terry and Stephanie Yates of Arnett, and Tommy Yates of Princeton as well as her brother Ed Johnson and his wife Ruth and her sister-in-law Betty Blevins.She is also survived by six grandchildren: Rachel Yates, Timmy Scott, Jason Scott, Terri Kennedy, Kelly Turner and Clifton Yates as well as nine great-grandchildren: Daniel Scott, Cassie Scott, Winter Bell, Hannah St. Clair, Brianna St. Clair, Nevaeh Yates, Ava Yates, Carson Turner and Adelyn Turner.Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Terry Yates and Clifton Yates officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family and friends serving as pallbearers.Friends may call on Wednesday prior to services, from 11:00-1:00 at the funeral home.Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
