Mabel Arlene Helmondollar, 96, of Lorton Lick Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born on November 20, 1917 at Crumpler, she was a daughter of the late Rufus and Rebecca Pruitt Lacy. The family moved to Browning Lambert Mountain when Mabel was very young and she attended school at Browning Lambert Mountain and at Matoaka High School. She graduated from beauty school and later worked at the Celanese Corp. in Narrows, Macy’s in Detroit, MI, Woolworth’s in Bluefield, and retired from having a beauty shop in her home for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ at MapleView and was active with teaching working with young people. She also enjoyed the Ladies Circle at the Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Eugene Helmondollar; brothers, Robert, Dewey, Delbert, Fred and Roy Lacy; and sisters in law, Violet, Lula Mae, Beulah, Hattie and Hazel Lacy.

Son: Randall Helmondollar and wife Joyce of Green Valley
Grandchildren: Janie and Randall, II
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Ministers Tony Reed and Eddie Via officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where nephews and family will serve as pallbearers. Men of the Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercer County Bible in the Schools.
