William J. Pennington

William J. (Butch) Pennington, 80, of Montcalm, WV, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014 at his home, four hours before his brother, Bobby Joe (BJ) Pennington.   Born on September 8, 1933 in Montcalm, WV, he was a son of the late Theodore Russell and Lola Eva Perkins Pennington. He had been a lifelong resident of Montcalm and was a retired coal miner with 28 years of service at US Steel. He was a member of the UMWA.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Lucado.   Survivors include: Wife:     Wilma Arrington Pennington of the home   2 daughters:       Regina Crater and husband Robbie of Mocksville, NC                                 Leiann Keatley and husband Jack of Montcalm, WV   3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren   Brothers:             Harold (Bo) Pennington and wife Alice of Montcalm, WV                                 Richard Pennington and Carolyn Roseberry of Montcalm, WV   Sisters:                 Frances Plymale of Paris, KY                                 Betty Candler and husband Howard of Bluefield, WV                                 Shirley Sarver of Blacksburg, VA                                 Janie Havens of Bluefield, WV                                 Vicky French of Bluefield, VA   Several nieces and nephews   Joint funeral services for Butch and BJ, Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where Jack Keatley, Robert Crater, Rick Kinder, Willard Horton, Larry Blevins and Joseph Finley will serve as pallbearers. Arnie Thompson and Tommy Williams will serve as honorary pallbearers.   Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus, 1330 Mercer Street, Princeton, WV 24740.   Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com   Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, 3431 Coal Heritage Road (Bluewell), Bluefield, WV 24701 is serving the family.
