Willie "Ed" Hawkins, 62, of Poplar Street, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at his home. Born on October 8, 1951 in Tazewell, VA, he was a son of the late John and Laura Asbury Hawkins. He had been a resident of Bluefield since 1995 and was a former owner and operator of his own auto body repair shop. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the US Army and served in the First 1/22 Regiment and the 4th Infantry. He was also the recipient of CIB Award. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy, John, Ralph, Eugene, and Raymond Hawkins, David Pennington, and John Blaylock. Survivors include: Wife: Tammy Worley Hawkins of the home 2 sons: Niel Edward Hawkins of Casper, WY Justin Hawkins of Bluefield Jimmy Dale Wimmer of Falls Mills, VA Daughter: Lea B. Hawkins of Bluefield Grandsons: Chase Lee and Aiden Cole Brothers: Charles and Hawkins wife Shirley of Charlotte Leonard Hawkins of Gastonia, NC Jerry Hawkins of Gastonia, NC Sam Littleton of Princeton Archie Thompson of Ada Nephews: Christopher and Bucky Hawkins Faithful dogs: Yo-Yo and Archie Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 22, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Mark Deeter officiating. Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Following services, it was his wishes to be cremated. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
