Jerry Douglas Herndon

Jerry Douglas Herndon 75 of Napoleon Lane Princeton, WV passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV. Jerry was born on November 12, 1938 in Bluefield, VA to the late Henry Hite and Mildred Kitts Herndon. He had been a resident of Princeton for the past 8 months and was of the Pentecostal faith. Jerry was a retired coal miner and former employee of Wal-Mart. He served his county in the US Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers Jackie, Jimmy, Michael and Larry Herndon; one sisters Peggy Darlene Herndon Williams. Survivors Include: His wife: Delores King Herndon of the home Two Daughters: Rhonda Davis and husband Mike of Princeton, WV. Melissa Lawrence of Bluefield, WV Two Grandchildren: Kayla Davis and Bobby Lawrence Two Sisters: Barbara Bailey and husband Russell of Bluefield, WV Carolyn Byrd and husband Dorwin of Bluefield, WV One Brother: Ronnie Herndon and wife Carol of Bramwell, WV Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluefield (Bluewell), WV at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Franklin Adkins officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV. Russell Bailey, Jerry Davis, Jerry Davis, Jr., Bradley Davis, Guy Davis, Jr., Johnny Tooley, Randall Hamilton, and Dewayne Thomas will serve as pallbearers. Dorwin Byrd and Michael Davis will serve as honorary pallbearers. The Herndon family will receive friends on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Bluefield (Bluewell), WV.
