Virginia "Ginny" Whitt, 96, of 165 Osprey Place (Quail Valley), Princeton, WV, died peacefully at her
home on Friday, February 7, 2014. She had lived there for twenty-two years, having moved there from
Ft. Myers, FL. Ginny was born January 24, 1918 in Franklin Township, OH to the late Dudley L. and Elsie
McWilliams Miller.
Other than her husband of sixty-four years, William E.R. "Pete" Whitt, she was preceded in death by one
brother, William Miller; two sisters, Harriet Miller and Ella Miller; and one daughter, Regina Wikle. She
was a member of the Princeton Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Jackson Town High School. Early
in life, she worked for IBM in Galveston, TX and after the time of her marriage, she worked with her
husband locally in Giles Trucking Company and Whitt's Service Station and Garage. Later, she worked
with her husband in Standard Parts and Services of North Ft. Myers, FL. Ginny and Pete were avid
campers and enjoyed traveling in their motor home, attending many motor coach rallies and bluegrass
festivals.
Survivors are:
One daughter, Margaret Shires and husband Jimmie of Bluewell, WV; one brother, James Miller of
Cincinnati, OH; three granddaughters, Billie Jean Rhyne and husband Hank of Charlotte, NC; Lisa
Lineberry and husband Bill of Bluefield; and Lori Combs and husband Gene of Princeton; four great-
grandchildren, Allison and Brody Combs of Princeton; Billy Lineberry of Richmond, VA; and Logan
Lineberry of Bluefield; three nieces, Emily Wilbert and husband Bill of Moreland, GA; Nancy Sizemore
and husband Dale of Moreland, GA; and Joyce Lang and husband Bob of Cincinnati, OH; two nephews,
Bob Miller and wife Janie of Marietta, OH; and Gary Miller and wife Rita of Columbus, OH; special
caregivers and friends, Betty Snyder of Oakvale and Shelva Kelley of Bluewell.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home
Chapel in Bluewell with the Reverend Ed Pettus officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial
Gardens in Princeton where family members will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral
home prior to the funeral service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
