Paul H. Whittaker, 91, of 186 Hibiscus Street, Bluewell, passed away early Sunday Morning, February 2, 2014 to meet his Lord and Savior at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on July 22, 1922 in Bluefield, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mae Crowley Whittaker. He worked at National Electric Coil in Bluefield where he retired after 41 years of service as a production manager. He enjoyed his years after retirement with the love of his life, His wife Madeline, vacationing in Florida during the winter months. Paul was a faithful member of Pine Grove Church of Christ. He served in the US Air Force during World War II in Okinawa, Japan and was a most proud US Veteran. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Madeline; a brother, Joe Whittaker; and two sisters, Dorothy Wilcher and Jean Wilson. Survivors include: 3 daughters: Patricia Lester and husband Jerry of Dublin, VA Pam Whittaker of Bluewell Peggy Whittaker of Bluewell Granddaughter: Ginger Cline of Princeton Great grandchildren: Brooke Scarbro and Gabriel Cline of Princeton Three caregivers: Sandy Riggs, Liz Sexton, and Sylvia Perry Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Minister Gary Lamie officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell with Jimmy Belcher, Wayne McKinney, Jack Johnson, Darrell Powers, Mac McKinney, and Lewis Harmon serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call on Tuesday, prior to the services, from 10:00-11:00 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s memory to Brushfork Bible in the Schools, PO Box 543, Bluefield, WV 24701.
