Ted Rudolph Shaffer, age 84, of Warden Avenue (Bluewell), Bluefield, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born on December 20, 1929 in Northfork, he was a son of the late Carl D. and Lucy Strouth Shaffer. He had been a resident of Bluewell since 1955 and was a retired chief electrician with Eastern Associated Coal Company in Keystone with 30 years of service. He was also a member of the UMWA. He was a member of the Bramwell Masonic Lodge AF&AM #45, the Bluefield Shrine Patrol and the Beni-Kedem Shrine. He and his wife were active with the annual Bluefield Shrine oyster dinner and the Bluefield Shrine Horse Show.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Thompson Shaffer, who passed away on January 24, 2013.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Steve Rector officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where the Bramwell Masonic Lodge will conduct masonic graveside rites and serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
