Ezra James Burnette

Keystone, WV- Ezra James Burnette, 86 of Burke Mountain, Keystone, passed away at his home on January 23, 2014. Born July 19, 1927 in keystone, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Callie Elizabeth Foster Burnette. Mr. Burnette served his country in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a retired coal miner having worked 35 years for the Eastern Associated Coal Corp. Mr. Burnette was a member of the U.M.W.A. and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Edna Mae Burnette, two daughters Edna (Dena) Burnette, Carol Albrecht and three sons; James (Eddie) Burnette, Darrell Burnette and Lester Burnette; three sisters; Clara Burnette, Clorine East and Ruby Marshall and two brothers; Elijah Burnette and Auby Burnette. Survivors include four sons; Leonard Burnette and wife Diana of Coaldale, WV, Donald Burnette of the home, Mark Burnette and wife Donna of Falls Mills, VA, Jefferey Burnette and wife Gina of Cana, VA, two daughters; Nancy Morris and husband Joe of Greeneville, SC, Sharon Pack and husband Glen of Burke Mountain, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Burnette will be conducted Monday January 27, 2014 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral home at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor David Kirby officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery located in Bluewell where the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites. Serving the family as pallbearers will be friends and family members. Friends may call Sunday January 26, 2014 at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
