Irene Gregory

IRENE MILDRED DAY GREGORY 89 of Rt. 5 Bluefield grew her wings and floated to heaven, to join the love of her life, Harry Gregory, in their heavenly home on December 18, 2013. Irene passed away at Princeton Community Hospital. Born on May 17, 1924, she was the daughter of the late, Josh & Lucy Farthing Day. She had been a resident of her home for 60 years. She had been a Loyal Member of the Bluewell United Methodist Church for 60 years, having served as Treasurer, taught the children's Sunday School Class, and helped with Bible School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her family and friends, and loved to travel with family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband of 40 years Harry Gregory, she was preceded in death by a brother Eugene Day. Left to cherish her memories are her children, two sons, Harry Gregory II and wife, Barbara of Bluewell, Ricky Gregory and Jo Ann of Shady Spring, two daughters, Charlotte Shrewsbury and husband, David of Dublin Va., Sandra Ball and husband, Gene of Bluewell. She has 8 grandchildren Lisa Tucker, Todd Shrewsbury, Mike Gregory, Chris Gregory, Tammy Fortner, Angel Peterson, Ricky Gregory II and Jason Gregory, 11 great grandchildren, Charlie Tucker, Sarah & Hunter Shrewsbury, Gabrielle, Caleb, Elijah & Jordan Fortner, Neil & Rosalyn Gregory, Elizabeth & Connor Gregory. She has many nieces, nephews, 5 sisters, Anna Gray of Princeton, Alice Wellman of Strongville, OH, Mary Francis Sayers, of Bryant, AR, Brenda Peterson of Salem VA, Christine Franchi, of Atlanta, GA, 3 brothers, Paul Day, of Welch WV, Richard Day, of Roanoke VA, Bobby Day, of Parma, OH. A Special and very close friend Attleen Scott, a special friend & caregivers, Opal Jones, Dr. Todd Smith, Dr. Parrish, nurses in the CCU unit and third floor at PCH, and CountryView in Peterstown, WV. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Bluewell United Methodist Church in Bluewell, WV where Rev. Stephen Rector and Rev. D. Homer Stewart will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park where Tammy Fortner, Mike Gregory, Chris Gregory, Todd Shrewsbury, Ricky Gregory II and Jason Gregory. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of her service at 2:00 p.m. at the Bluewell United Methodist Church.
