Milton Harlow Anthony, Sr., 86, of Bluefield, WV died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at
Mt. Carmel St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio. He was born in Elkhorn, WV on
February 21, 1927 to the late Milton L. Anthony and Corrine Bennett Anthony. He
attended McDowell County Public Schools before moving to Bluefield, WV in 1943. He
married the "Love of his Life" Viola Elizabeth Campbell on February 5, 1951, which
ultimately led to 62 years of marriage.
Harlow was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was always excited to
share his love for Jesus. He was a US Army veteran and served as an Army Tanker during the Korean War. He was retired as a coal miner from Keystone Coal Mines after 32 years of service and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America..
He is preceded in death by his wife Viola Elizabeth Anthony, parents Milton and Corrine
Anthony, son Andrew Harold Anthony; sisters Almeta Stackhouse, Mable McGee,
Carolyn Bagby and brothers Harry Anthony, Richard Anthony and Lawrence Anthony,
granddaughter Kimberly Anthony Chambers and grandson Anthony Jamal Morgan.
Left to cherish precious memories are his three daughters Carolyn Anthony, Deborah
Morgan and Karen (Ron) Mahone, all of Columbus, OH; four sons William (Jackqueline)
Anthony of Cary, NC; Milton (Barbara) Anthony, Jr., James (Pamela) Anthony,
Lawrence (Pamela) Anthony, all of-Columbus, OH.- Nineteen grandchildren,-twenty-one
great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; two sisters Thelma (Pretzel)
Hawthorne and Juanita Scott, both of Richmond, VA; four brothers-in-law; Willie (Joan)
Campbell of Chester, VA; Andrew Campbell of Richmond, VA; Harold Lee (Doris)
Campbell of Martinsville, VA; James (Trina Johnson) Campbell of Taylor, MI; numerous
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Mt. Zion Baptist
Church in Bluefield, WV with Rev. Charles H. Collins officiating. Calling hours one hour
prior to service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 450 Courthouse Road,
Princeton, WV. The Mercer County Honor Guard will conduct military honors and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
