Louisa Mitchem

Louisa Mitchem, 90, of Newton, NC and formerly of Bluewell, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013 at eh Catawba Hospice House in Newton, NC. Born on December 8, 1923 in Crumpler, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Icie Shrewsbury Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Louis Mitchem; a son, Alvis Rife Mitchem; and a granddaughter, Vickie Mitchem; 6 sisters; and 2 brothers. Survivors include: Daughter: Peggy Mitchem of Newton, NC Son: Roger L. Mitchem of Maiden, NC 4 grandsons 2 granddaughters 11 great grandchildren 4 great-great grandchildren Sister: Barbara Beggs of Princeton 2 brothers: Lawrence Bailey of Paisley, FL Mack Bailey of Hebron, NC Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Ronald Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
