Gregory Allen Thomas

Gregory “Greg” Allen Thomas, December 13th 1958 – December 4th 2013. Greg Thomas age 54 of Montcalm, WV, went to meet his Lord on December 4th 2013. Greg was born December 13th, 1958 in Bluefield, WV, to Donald “Don” Cole Thomas and the late Betty Marie Thomas. He worked with Northern Southern Railroad for 14 years. He had a natural skill of working with his hands and spent a lot of his life working in carpentry or mechanics. One may consider him a jack-of-all-trades. He spent some years at home caring for his children while they were young. He had a passion for older model Ford trucks and the American Motor Car, the AMX. He was a good friend to many and always willing to help others in need. Greg was preceded in death by his devoted Mother, Betty Thomas, Brother, Robert “Scottie” Thomas, very dear Uncle Ronnie Thomas, Uncle Don Hodges, and Nephew, Kevin Thomas. He is survived by his Dad, Don Thomas, Brother, Charles “Chucky” Thomas, and special Aunt Alice Thomas and Aunt Dot Hodges. He leaves behind two children, Erika Thomas of Beckley, WV, Travis Thomas and wife Kattie of Walnut Cove, NC and their Mother, Betty O’Neal of Fayetteville, WV. He has three wonderful grandchildren who fondly call him “Pops”, Luke Trace Thomas-Pack, Sophie Marie Thomas and Layla Grayce Thomas. He is survived by two special Nephews, Terrance “Terry” Thomas and Cliff Thomas, very sweet Cousin Shelle Thomas Thompson, her husband Kent and their son Jonathan, also Jenny and Mitsi. He resided with a very special lady, Nancy Minnix and cared dearly for her children and grandchildren. There are brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and many family-type friends whom he precedes in death, too numerous to name. He will be deeply missed. Family will receive friends at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Saturday, December 7th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial Service will follow with Brother David Kirby officiating at 8 p.m. Friends may reach the family at the home of Don Thomas before and after the services.
