Joyce Bell Surber, 71, of Reynold Road, Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Forysth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born on February 12, 1942 in McDowell County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Annie Mitchem Rose. She had been a resident of Winston-Salem for 3 years and was formerly of Bluefield. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include: 1 son: Hamilton Ray Surber of Winston-Salem, NC 3 daughters: Anita Duggins of Kernersville, NC Sandra Brooks of Winston-Salem, NC Jenny Little of King, NC 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren 3 brothers: Jimmy Roger Rose of Dandridge, TN Dennis Rose of Harrietta, MI Winston Rose of Yadkinville, NC 3 sisters: Hazel Hall of Beckley, WV Ruth Billips of Bland, VA Doris Garbo, of Ypsilanti, MI Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Rita Sharp officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where, John Little, John Duggins, Ray Surber, Tyler Duggins, Steve Brooks, and Stephen Mcglamery will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Saturday from 12:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
