Florence Marie Riffe

Thorpe, WV- Florence Marie Riffe, 86, of 95 Payton Place Rd., Thorpe, WV, was reunited with her loved ones and in the arms of the precious Lamb, early October 6, 2013 at the home of her daughter; Patricia (Jeanie) Tickle and granddaughter; Pamela Mullins of whom was like a daughter to her and also a loving care giver. Born March 25, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Martha Muncy. She was a lifelong resident of McDowell County and was known to many as “Granny”. The pride in her heart for having triplet boys and raising thirteen children was the topic of all her conversations when meeting new people. A stranger was never a word she used. She loved all those she met and sought out to help those in need. Giving people food from her pantry and clothes from her closet was her joy. She was loved by all who knew her and the compassion for all those she met will remain always in the hearts of many. Mom was devoted to her children and we will miss her so. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, served on the Board of the McDowell Ambulance authority and Manager of J&J Market for several years and was a member of Thorpe United Methodist Church, Thorpe, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son; Donnie Riffe of Paynesville, WV, two step-daughters; Birchie Hamilton of Ashtabula, OH and Beulah Dalin also of Ashtabula, OH. Loving memories will always remain in the hearts of her ten children; Birdie and husband Richard Vowels of Oshkosh, WI, Doris and husband Joseph Reichart of Daytona Beach, FL, Mary Carr of Ashtabula, OH, Patricia (Jeanie) Tickle of Thorpe, WV, James Riffe and wife Deborah of Ashtabula, OH, Freda Chaves and husband Joseph of Riverview, FL, Jacquetta Sullivan and husband Larry of Ashtabula, OH, Ronnie Riffe and wife Joan of Ashtabula, OH, Lonnie Riffe of Cleveland, NC, David Riffe and wife Mary of Ashtabula,OH, twenty-eight grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, four loving caregivers of which she loved no less than her children; Peggy and husband Marvin Miller of Elbert, WV, Boyd and Rhonda Sue Fowler of Thorpe, WV, and her great- granddaughter; Meagan Mullins.
