Herman Glen (Sonny) Hicks, 74, of Undercliff Terrace, Princeton, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on April 5, 1939 in Bluefield, he was a son of the late Everett and Verlie Meadows Hicks. He had been a lifelong resident of Mercer County, and was a graduate of Bluefield High School. He was a veteran of the US Army and the National Guard. He was a former coal miner for over 20 years and was a member of the UMWA. He was an expert jeweler for 15 years until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Hicks; and a sister, Arnolene Snapp.

Nicholas Wood, Andrew Wood

Brother: Darrell Hicks and wife Betty of Bluefield

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. David Kirby and Rev. Edward Wood officiating. Entombment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Mausoleum in Bluewell with Mark Wood, Darrell Powers, Steve West, Jeff Clark, Corey Clark, Chase Neidig, serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
