Rev. Lloyd Edsil Cartwright, age 82, of Main Coke Oven Row, Pageton, WV, went home to be with our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born on June 9, 1931 in Leckie, WV, he was a son of the late Louis and May Parks Cartwright. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict as well as the Army National Guard. He had worked for the McDowell County Board of Education as their Chief Electrician. He also served faithfully as pastor of the Gary #10 Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard, Roger, Ben and Elmer Cartwright and his sister, Joyce. Survivors: His loving wife: Elizabeth Geneva Price Cartwright of the home Son: Glen Ray Cartwright of Pageton, WV Daughter: Barbara Jean Cartwright Hunt and husband Kenneth William Hunt of Princeton, WV Granddaughters: Angela Marie Hunt and her fiancé Charles D. Marshall of Pageton, WV Lee Ann Alpus of Saratoga, TX Grandsons: Gary Lee Hunt of Glenwood, WV Joseph Todd Hunt of Princeton, WV Joshua Lloyd Ray Cartwright of Rye, TX Step-Granddaughter: Kelly Ann Marshall of Pageton Great-Grandchildren: Zane and Maddy Alpus Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Donnie Farmer of Long Point Baptist Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where military graveside honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. The family is accepting online condolences at www.cravens-shires.com. The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, 3431 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, WV is in charge of arrangements.
