Robert Vance Auton

Robert Vance Auton, 66, of Bluewell passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, after battling cancer since October 2012. He was the third child born to James H. Auton and Ellen Osborn Auton of Coaldale, WV. Robert was a Bramwell High School graduate of the Class of 1965. He was a retired coal miner, having followed in the footsteps of both grandfathers, father, brother, and many other family members. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church of Bluewell, where he attended for several years. He was a kind and humble servant to the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by great grandparents Sampson and Martha Taylor; grandparents Stanley Osborn and India Taylor Osborn, Stanoak Auton and Lena Nunn Auton; brothers, James Stanley Auton and Sherman Lee Auton, Sr.; and a half-sister, Teresa Auton Nuchols. Robert is survived by his wife of 31 years Charlotte Akers Auton; son Bobby Wayne Auton of Bluefield; daughter Penny Auton Justice, husband Anthony, and Granddaughter Grace of Brushfork; sisters Betty Farmer Bircham of Yadkinville, NC and Vivian Snyder of Bluefield, WV; stepson Mikel Egnor of Montcalm, WV; stepdaughter Becky Gills of GA; and nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. James Milam and Rev. Donnie Dinger officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 1-2 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cravens-Shires Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
