Cross Lanes, WV – Donnie Wayne Gresby, age 58 of Cross Lanes, WV passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his home in Cross Lanes, WV. He was born March 27, 1955 in Darby, Pennsylvania. He is the son of Kelly D. Gresby, Jr. and Elizabeth O. Bland Gresby. He received his early schooling through Prince Edward County School System and completed his Bachelor’s Degree from Bluefield State University. He received his Master’s Degree from Long Wood State Teacher’s College in Farmville, Virginia. He was a retired Counselor from West Virginia State University in Charleston, West Virginia. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Charleston, West Virginia. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Charleston, West Virginia and the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He was an avid musician and he served many congregations across the two Virginias. Donnie loved people, he knew no strangers. He always said what he meant, and meant what he said. Donnie is survived by his parents, Kelly and Elizabeth Gresby of Bluefield, West Virginia, One son William Clark whom is serving his country in the United States Army, Three sisters Justina (Adolphus, Jr.) Young of Bluefield, West Virginia, Vanessa Greenwood of New York and Monica Cooper of Beckley, West Virginia; One brother Cedrick Gresby of South Point, Ohio. He has two grandchildren and Two aunts; Mamie Stiff of Farmville, Virginia and Loretta Bekono of Roderfield, West Virginia. Three uncles Floyd Bland, Winfield Bland and Alfonzo Taylor and one nephew, SSgt. Adolphus A. Young III of Shaw AFB, Sunter, South Carolina. Homegoing services for Donnie Wayne Gresby will be held Wednesday, July 03, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel 3431 Coal Heritage Road Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia with Reverend Larry Hairston and Reverend Braxton Broady officiating the service. Entombment will follow the service at Roselawn Memorial gardens Mausoleum in Princeton, West Virginia.
