William Neal Perdue

William Neal “Rusty” Perdue, age 61, of Manassas Way (Perdue Hollow Road), Bluefield, WV, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on August 5, 1951 in Boissevain, VA, he was a son of William A. Perdue and the late Mary Lee Gullion Perdue. He had been a resident of Bluefield for most of his life and was a 1969 graduate of Bluefield High School. He served in the US Army from 1969-1971 as a company supply clerk and had worked at Sears for many years. He also delivered meals from the Thorn Street Senior Center to many area senior citizens. He loved music of all types and he loved to laugh. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William H and Kathleen Perdue. Survivors include: Wife of 30 years: Barbara Ward Perdue of the home Parents: William and Nellie Skeen Perdue of Bluefield Sister: Cathie (Clay) Collins of Abbs Valley, VA Brother: Rick Perdue of Boissevain, VA Stepsister: Zoe Merkle of Norfolk, VA Stepbrother: Craig Anderson of Boca Raton, FL A host of nieces and nephews He will also be missed by his four legged companions, Buddy and Scooter. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. James Bassett officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Craig Anderson, Charlie Birkelbach, Berkie Birkelbach, Jim Johnson, Randy Bishop, and Bo Ingram officiating. Friends may call on Monday morning, from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
