Darrell R. Belcher 71, of Bantam Road, Bluefield, WV completed his earthly journey and went to join his heavenly father on June 20, 2013 at The Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV with family by his side. He was a life long resident of Mercer County, and as he would say “Born in a small little red house in Crystal, WV on side of a mountain by a mid-wife named Lucille White”. Following in his grandfather and father’s footsteps he was a proud coal miner at Itmann Coal Company. He also served in the Army National Guards for six years. He attended SouthView Church and loved attending churches, revivals and gospel singings. He was a very proud grandfather to Benjamin, Ethan, Emma and Owen and enjoyed any and all their activities, from soccer games, to karate class to pretend play, but most importantly reading and teaching them the Bible. He was preceded in death by his parents David A. and Alice J. (Conlee) Belcher, his maternal grandparents Charles and Mollie (Bennett) Conlee, paternal grandparents Henry D. and Lola (Helmandollar) Belcher. A brother Ronald D. Belcher. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife and soul mate of 44 years, Sharon S. (Carver)Belcher with whom he shared his home. Two daughters Nancy Broyles and husband Brian, grandchildren Benjamin and Emma, Tina Law and Husband Tim, grandsons Ethan and Owen all of Princeton, WV. A brother Douglas Belcher and wife Charlene of Louisville, TN. Two sisters Delores Lacy and husband Roger of Bluefield, WV and Janet Tolbert and husband Richard of Charlotte, NC. A host of nieces and nephews that brought much joy to his heart with amazing memories. Special Family Friend Alma Dean England. Funeral Services will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV friends may call Saturday June 22, 2013 from 11am-1pm. Service will begin at 1pm with Reverend Bernard McBride and Reverend James Black officiating with Burial to follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Princeton. Because of the tender, loving, compassionate care the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Doug and Lucy Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801. Pallbearers will be Timmy Lacy, Rogie Lacy, Matthew Lacy, Travis Lacy, Bobby Nester and Bradley Broyles. Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
