Donnie Eugene “Tinker” Rider, Jr., age 42, of Raven, VA passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, VA from injuries sustained in a tree accident in Hurley, VA. Born on February 10, 1971 in Bluefield, he was a son of Sandra Jean Farmer Mash and Donnie Eugene Rider, Sr. He had been a resident of Raven for 10 years and was of the Christian faith. He was employed by Xylem Tree Experts in Norfolk, VA as a tree cutter. Survivors include: Father: Donnie Eugene Rider, Sr. of Mooresville, NC Mother: Sandra Jean Farmer Mash of Raven, VA Son: Logan Alvie Rider of Raven, VA Daughter: Jordan Lee Rider of Spencer, VA Brothers: Brian Rider of Spring Lake, NC Aaron Rider of Raven, VA Sisters: Elizabeth Lynn Rider of Yulee, FL Angela “Angel” Gibson of Mooresville, NC Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Elder William Hanks officiating. Burial will follow at the Bell Cemetery in Coaldale. Coworkers and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
