A.M. "Tinker" St. Clair

Arthur Malan “Tinker” St. Clair, 97 years old, of 1394 Highland Circle, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina formerly of Welch, West Virginia died on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Born on January 6, 1916 in Pageton, West Virginia. He was the son of the late William Woods St. Clair and Etta Mae Cochran St. Clair. In addition to his parents, his lovely wife Elnora Hall St. Clair preceded him in death. Elnora and “Tinker” were joined together in marriage on May 25, 1940. “Tinker” passed away on what would have been “Tinker’s” and Elnora’s 73rd wedding anniversary. He was a member of the McDowell Masonic Lodge No. 112, A.F.& A.M. of Welch, West Virginia. He was a member of the Beni Kedem Temple of Charleston, West Virginia. “Tinker” retired as County Clerk for McDowell County at age 63 and then started a new career working for Senator Robert C. Byrd and the United States Senate until he retired at age 85. Five brothers preceded “Tinker” in death: Leonard, William, Charles, Robert Lee, and Cornelius and one sister Louise Mann. Survivors: daughters: Patty St. Clair and Linda Pence (husband Ed). Grandchildren: Kimberly, Eddie (wife Tracey), and Mack Pence. Great Grandchildren: Nick and Jack George, and Colton Pence. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Reverend James Milam, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bluewell officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewell. Welch Masonic Lodge No. 112 will conduct Masonic gravesite rites. Visitations will be Wednesday May 29, 2013 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
