Tony James Romeo, age 87, of Cumberland Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at his home.
Born on May 2, 1926 in Kimball, he was a son of the late Dominick and Angeline Larkin Romeo. He had been a resident of Bluefield for 9 years and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield. He was the owner and operator of Romeo Florist in Welch for 35 years and operated the McDowell County Sheltered Workshop. He was a Korean War Veteran. He served for 18 years and was a former President of the McDowell County Board of Education. He was also the former President of the WV State School Board Association and the Welch Rotary Club. He was Commander of Post 8 of the American Legion, a life member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the Sons of Italy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Panzera, and brothers, Sam V. Romeo, John L. Romeo, and Joseph P. Romeo.

Daughters: Tona Kirkham and husband Lowell of Talcott
Elizabeth Blasingame and husband Randy of Kernersville, NC
Sons: Michael J. Romeo and companion Sandra K. Spaulding of Bluefield
Anthony J. Romeo and wife Ann of Union, KY
John D. Romeo and wife Jennifer of Alliance, OH
Grandchildren: Craig and Laura Kirkham, Joseph Romeo, Dominick and Gabriela Romeo, Mariana,
Philip, and Donovan Romeo, Alie and Payton Blasingame.
Great grandchildren: Brooklyn and Kobe Caldwell
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield with Father Paul Wharton officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell where Craig Kirkham, Joseph M. Romeo, Dominick Romeo, Joseph P. Romeo, John Romeo, and Phillip Panzera will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with a Christian Wake Service being conducted at 7:45 PM.
