Albert Wayne Roland, Sr., age 82, of Hurricane Ridge Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born on November 3, 1930 in Ada, he was a son of the late Ed and Lucinda Rose Roland. He had been a lifelong resident of Bluefield and had lived most of his life on a farm, which he loved. He was a US Navy Veteran and was retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad. He was a member of Ada Chapel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Louise Francisco Roland; his sons, Albert Wayne Roland, Jr. and Mark Roland; sisters, Agnes Wimmer, Lucy Allen, and Lettie Neal; brother, Edgar Roland; half-brothers, Jessie Rose, Arie Roland, Oaky Roland, Elmer Roland and Mason Roland; and a half-sister, Mary Collins.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. James Bassett officiating. Burial will follow at the Roland Family Cemetery on Hurricane Ridge with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the US Navy Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
