Goldie Gillespie

Goldie Merkle Gillespie, age 89, of 134 Louise Drive, Mooresville, NC and formerly of Maitland, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Genesis Healthcare in Mooresville, NC. Born on January 13, 1924 in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Sadie Lakitch Merkle. She had been a resident of NC for 13 years, was a retired sales clerk, and was a member of the Hylton Memorial Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Gillespie; 4 sisters, Mary Loatman, Sadie Ingandela, Annie Merkle, and Ruby Merkle; and 4 brothers, Andrew, Frank, Jr., Steve and an infant brother. Survivors include: Daughter: Linda G. Haggy of Mooresville, NC 2 grandchildren: Christel Isenhour and Paul Jennifer Murdock and Paul 3 great grandchildren: David Isenhour, Haley and Austin Murdock 2 sisters: Catherine Smith of Bluefield Virginia Merkle of Anawalt Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Alvin and Tommy Belcher officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell Paul Murdock, Paul Isenhour, CJ Runyon, Keith Dalton, Don and Steve Merkle serving as pallbearers.
