Arlion Andrew Jenkins, Sr., age 88, of 7 Michael Lane, Princeton, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at his home. Born on April 10, 1925 in Lowe, WV, he was a son of the late Jessie B. and Josephine Cecil Jenkins. He had been a resident of Princeton for 12 years and was formerly of Lashmeet. He was a member of the Montcalm Church of God. He was a retired coal miner with 36 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Army and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the World War II Victory Ribbon, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Shrader Jenkins, the mother of his children and whom he was married to for 45 years; his second wife, Louise Reed Jenkins; a son, Bradley Keith Jenkins, Sr.; brothers, Raymond, Lawrence, Albert, Benson, Carl, Clarence and Ernest Jenkins; and sisters, Effie Parks, Mabel Sparks, Maggie Fink, and Pauline Shrader. Survivors include: 3 sons: Arlion A. Jenkins and Janice of Princeton David B. Jenkins and Geneva of Kegley Curtis D. Jenkins of Lashmeet 6 daughters: Darlene Linkous and Roger of Princeton Marlene Neely and Ray of Princeton Sharon Shrewbury of Princeton Debra Smith and Claude of Lashmeet Peggy Jenkins of Princeton Lois Comerose and Pat of Lashmeet 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren 1 sister: Lorraine Haynes of Princeton Extended Family: Anita Bowling, Robert Martin, Dorothy Lockhart and son Harley, Ruby Lawson, Kenny Steele, the members at Montcalm Church of God Special caregiver: Idena Mitchell Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Darryl Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the WV Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
