Carl William Rose, Sr., formerly of Bluefield, WV, passed away on April 7, 2013, in Sun City Center, Florida on the 92nd anniversary of his birth. He was the son of Carl Ellis Rose and Margaret Saul, brother to Colin Rose (all deceased). He was born in Bluefield, West Virginia. He worked as a stone mason prior to joining the US Army in 1939, serving in Panama, New Guinea, and the Phillipines during WWII. He retired as a full Colonel in 1981. He attended Bluefield College, LSU and the University or Miami, earning degrees in Accounting and Law. He was a member of the Florida and Washington, D.C. bar associations. He settled in Miami, FL, where he served as a Vice President, Comptroller and Legal Counsel for Southeast Bank. He retired in 1984 and moved to Sun City Center, Florida in 1985, spending summers in Wolf Laurel, North Carolina. He is survived by his companion and long time friend, Jean Turner of Plant City, Florida and his son, Carl W. Rose, Jr. (Kathy) of North Fort Myers, FL and daughter, Terry Ann Bannan, New Smyrna Beach, FL, grandson, Norbert Hamilton Bannan, III, (Genia), Loose Creek, Missouri, great grandson, Norbert Hamilton Bannan, IV. He was married to Lillian Morrissette Rose (deceased) and Marie Borroughs Rose (deceased). He was a member of the Sun City Center Methodist Church. He enjoyed travel to Europe, Alaska, The Holy Land and other destinations throughout his lifetime. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home of Bluewell, West Virginia. A viewing will be held from 10 am til 11:00 AM and a military service conducted by the West Virginia Honor Guard at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, West Virginia.
