Linda Harter

Linda Jane (Bailey) Harter, of Bluefield, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the age of 85. Linda was one often children born to Lora and Cletus Bailey on August 21, 1927 in Goodwill, WV. She graduated in 1945 and went to work for the Naval Academy enrollment department in Washington D.C. She met and married her children's father and moved to central Louisiana where 18 years was dedicated to raising her children and caring for her family. The next 21 years were spent in Indiana with her husband Lowell Harter until his death and then a moved back to West Virginia with Elizabeth to take care of her mother. She had presided in Bluefield the last 25 years being the care giver for many relatives and friends. Linda was an active participant in the CASE program until her health failed in the last year. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lora and Cletus Bailey, husband, Lowell Harter, child, Mark Anthony Nugent, bothers, Harold, Leonard (Mildred), Tommy (Betty) and Cletus (Juanita) Bailey, brothers-in-law, Ralph Putnam and Kyle Dinger. She is survived by sons, Michael (Dianne) Nugent of Hineston, LA, and James Nugent of Elkhart, IN, daughters, Cynthia (David) Vinson of Houston, TX and Elizabeth Nugent of Bluefield, WV, grandchildren, Nicole (Rhett) Fitzgerald of Walker, LA, Brett (Allison} Roper of Falls Church, VA., Beau Roper of Austin, TX. Brittany Roper of Houston, TX, great grandchildren, Evyn Fitzgerald, Scout and Elliott Roper, sisters, Ruth Dinger of Bluefield WV, Marianne Putnam and Susie (Tally} Wills of Lakeland, FL, brothers Charles Bailey of North Carolina and Johnny (Helen) Bailey of Goshen, IN., and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Bluefield, WV, on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Elder Thurman Belcher and Rev. C.T. Lilly officiating the service. Burial will follow at Bailey Cemetery (Mount Sinai) Goodwill, WV. Where friends and family will be serving as pallbearers.
