Violet Juanita Lusk Bailey, age 84, of 3687 Sandlick Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center lovingly surrounded by her family. Born on August 30, 1928 in McComas, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Mattie Taylor Lusk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Bailey; daughter, Wanda “Reese” Simpson; son-in-law, Ira Simpson; infant granddaughter, Lisa Marie Simpson; sister, Virginia Shrader; brothers, Raymond, Udell, Henry, Buddy, Bradley and Alfred Lusk. Violet worked for Kresgee’s and K-Mart where she retired after 30 years of service. She was a faithful and active member of the Voice of Praise Worship Center in Bluewell. She loved gospel music and was a frequent visitor of area churches where gospel groups were performing. She was a member of Senior Friends, the Red Hat Society, and the Hardees morning group where she loved to visit with special friends. Survivors include: Daughters: Marilyn Kade and husband Larry of Sandlick Linda Mariotti and husband Carl of Bluefield Son: Russell “Tock” Bailey and wife Barbara of Sandlick Grandsons: Clay Hurst of Morgantown Mark Mariotti (Kara) of Radford, VA Larry Kade (Becky) of Sandlick Matthew Simpson (Nickie) of Montcalm Granddaughters: Michon Miles (Gary) of Carbondale, IL Lori Gilliland (Jimmy) of Union City, TN Angela Bailey (Ed Doughery) of Blacksburg, VA Andrea Backover (Jason) of Stephens City, VA Carla English (Bobby) of Bluefield Trena Smith of Montcalm 21 great grandchildren Special sister and friend: Arbutus Patterson of Bluefield Brother: Buford Lusk of Montcalm Many special nieces, nephews, and friends Caregivers: Mary Malone and Drema Surber Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Jason Queen officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Voice of Praise Worship Center, 9952 New Hope Road, Bluefield, WV 24701.
