Dessie Hill

Dessie Hypes Hill, age 83, of Galax, VA, formerly of Pocahontas, VA, departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father and her husband on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center in Galax, VA. Born on August 13, 1929 in Pocahontas, VA, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Carr and Vina Laxton Hypes. She had lived in Galax since 1979 and attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She loved her family very much and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her little dog and reading her Bible. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy T. Hill, Sr.; a son Roy T. Hill, Jr.; and a grandchild, Matthew Hill. Survivors: Son: Frank Hill and wife Mary of Galax, VA Daughter: Linda Hill Tomlinson of Richmond, VA 5 Grandchildren: John Thomas Hill, David Tomlinson, Jr., Roy Tomlinson, Frankie Hill, Jr., Jesse Hill and Matthew Hill 10 Great-Grandchildren 3 Step-Granddaughters: Melissa, Misty, and Olivia Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Bunnie Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where family and friends will be serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Boissevain Pentecostal Holiness Church in Boissevain, VA
