Bernice Witt

Bernice Craft Witt, Age 93, of Bluewell, WV, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 6, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. Born October 18, 1919 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late James T. Craft and Veda Richardson Craft. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Glenwood. She was devoted to God and her family. She loved the Lord with all her heart and this was evident in the way she lived her life. One of her passions in life was reading her Bible and every decision she made in life was based on God's word. Another passion of hers was cooking, and she was happiest when she was cooking a big Sunday dinner for family and friends. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, She touched the lives of many people and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded n death by her husband, Mallie E. Witt; one son, Roger Lee Witt, daughter-in-law, Gail Bowling Witt; sisters, Nellie Craft Caldwell, Virginia Craft Jewell and Mary Helen Craft Jeweli; brothers Wesley, John, Jim, and Sherman Byrd Craft Left to cherish her memory are her five daughters: Juanita (Nita) Sharrock and husband Ronald of Wytheville, VA, Janet (Susie) Gallinger and husband Jim, Jole Thompson, Judy Louthen and husband Ronnie all of Bluewell, WV, and Betty Reed and husband Gerald of Tabor Road, Bluefield, WV, sons, James Witt and wife Shirley of Yorktown, VA, and Billy Witt and wife Peggy of Tabor Road, Bluefield, WV. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, and one due in August. She has one surviving brother, Walter Craft and wife Rose of Princeton, WV and many loving and caring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Loving caregivers were her daughters, Nita, Susie, Jole, Judy and Betty, and granddaughter Lora Morgan along with special friends Sabrina and Janet for the loving care they gave our mother. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Larry Hollandsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with grandsons, Jamie Witt, Mark & Brian Gallinger, Edward Louthen, Gerald Reed, Jr., and Robert and Curtis Witt serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
