Hershel “Ray” Cox 61of 453 Jonah Ave. Bluefield, WV (Holly Hill Estates) passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Cox was born March 27, 1951 to Betty Kelly Peak of Bluefield, VA and the late Hershel Cox.
He had been a resident of Bluefield for the past 13 years and was formerly of Green Valley. Hershel was a charter member of the Maple View Church of Christ and a devoted 35 year member of the Bluefield Moose Lodge where he held the office of Governor, Jr. Governor and Prelate.
In his early years he worked for Mustard Equipment Service and Southwest Supply. Later he became self employed in the fire extinguisher business and produce business. For many years he was known at local flea markets as “Tomato Man”.

He also leaves behind many special friends including The Burkhart family and employees of Green Valley Excavating.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 04, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Minister Tony Reed officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV where Justin Cox, Jordan Cox, Christopher Wilson, Brandon Cunningham, Grant Blackburn and Philip Mullins.
