Doris Elaine Shaffer, age 83, of 260 Warden Avenue, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at her home.
Born on July 12, 1929 in Fairmont, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Hattie Hicks Thompson. She had been a resident of Bluewell since 1954 and was a member of the Bluewell United Methodist Church. She was retired from Mercer County Schools as a Special Ed. Aide. She was President of the Wednesday Morning Bowling League, the Red Hat Society, the Shriner’s Ladies Auxiliary., the Bluewell Women’s Club, and the OES. She loved to dance and was and avid WVU Mountaineer fan.

3 great grandchildren: Keaton, Ella Grace and Hutchins Sapp
Brothers: Noland Thompson and wife Ginny of Fairmont
Special caregiver: Aggie May of Bluewell
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Stephen Rector officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Princeton with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Saturday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
