Mable Steele

Mrs. Mable West Steele, of Bluefield, WV and formerly of Iaeger, WV, departed this life on Thursday January 17, 2013 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born August 15, 1914 to the late Will and Elizabeth West in Kentucky, she was the last surviving member of her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by; her husband Estil Steele, three brothers; Roy, Joe, and Virgil West, two sisters; Essie Kennedy Steele and Watie Bishop. A special Mother, Grandmother, Friend, Aunt, and Sister-in-Law, she was always full of fun, laughter, and loved to ride. The last six years of her life she resided with her daughter, Dorothy Lockhart, at Glenwood Park, who gave her the best of care. She still took her long rides and they only changed from Gilbert to Peterstown. Mable attended the Montcalm Church of God where she was loved by all. While in Iaeger, she and her late husband, Estil, attended the Church of God at Sandy Huff where he was the Pastor. She leaves many friends, family, and loved ones in Iaeger and Princeton. Survivors include two daughters; Ruby Lawson of Princeton, Dorothy Lockhart of Princeton, a son; Kenny and fiancé Virgie Robinette also of Princeton, five step-children; Bob and wife Rosemary Lockhart of Elkview, Tom and wife Linda of PA, Jeff and Pam of TX, Deloris Pendleton and husband Joe of Princeton, Randy Lockhart of Hillsboro, WV, five grandchildren; Chris Brant and husband Alan of Iaeger, Freddie Lawson and wife Pennie of Beckley, Sherrie Gaither of Winston-Salem, NC, Harley Bailey, Jr. of Princeton, Kevin Bailey and wife Diana of Wilmington, NC, five great-grandchildren; Tony Palacios, Leigh Palacios, Alan Brant, Jr., Sydney Lawson, Cory Lawson, and a special friend; Arlion Jenkins. Funeral services for Mrs. Mable Steele will be conducted Sunday January 20, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with the Pastor Darryl Christian and Rev. Ryan Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Princeton where Freddie Lawson, Kevin Bailey, Alan Brant, Jr., Tony Palacios, and Charles Lawson, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be; Alan Brant, Sr., John Steele, Lonnie Pennington, Gene Pennington, Solomon Sowers, Vencil Perkins, Glen Shrader, and Ted Warden. Friends may call Saturday from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
