Daniel Victor McCroskey

Daniel Victor McCroskey, age 79, of Boissevain, VA, died on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on August 29, 1933 in Jenkinjones, WV, he was a son of the late Jerry and Nora Dye McCroskey. He had lived in Boissevain for the past 41 years and was a retired coal miner with 28 years of service and a member of the UMWA. He was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Edward, Jerry and Winfred McCroskey; and 2 sisters Flora Dye and Helen Winters. Survivors include: His wife: Paulette Horn McCroskey of the home Daughter: Paula Rider and husband Tim of Boissevain, VA Brothers: Larry McCroskey and wife Diane of Troutville, VA Michael McCroskey and wife Dixie of Lexington, NC Marshall McCroskey and wife Debbie of Boissevain, VA Kenneth McCroskey of Roanoke, VA Rodney McCroskey and wife Faye of Ridgeway, VA Sisters: Wanda Asbury and husband Herbert of Abbs Valley, VA Shirley Shrader and husband Dewey of Abbs Valley, VA Elsie Hinegar of Roanoke, VA Granddaughter: Victoria Rider Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Carlos Hess officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where pallbearers will be family and friends. Military Graveside Honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Council. Friends may call from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
