Lewis Clifford Payne, age 85, of Maxey Road, Bramwell, WV died on Thursday December 6, 2012 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born on October 17, 1927 in Apple Grove, WV, he was a son of the late Alfred and Alifar Mullins Payne. He had lived in McDowell County most of his life and had spent the last 7 years in Mercer County. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Army. He was a retired coal miner. He was a member the F.O.P. and the VFW Bradshaw Post #175. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue Rose Payne; son, Alfred Payne; daughter, Tina Louise Rose; 2 Granddaughter Pricilla Underwood and Debbie Payne; One Grandson Kamerem Allen Rose; two brother, George and Warren Coleman; and four sisters, Lou Coleman, Reddy Church, Thelma Stinson and Stella Payne; and Two daughter in laws Patty Payne and Nancy Payne Survivors include: Sons: Ronald Rose and wife Donna of Spanishburg, WV Larry “Jr” Payne and wife Helen of Hensley, WV James Rose and companion Rachel England of Keystone, WV Jerry Payne and wife Michelle of Princeton, WV Clifford Lee Payne and companion Charity of Princeton, WV Arnold Payne of Warriormine, WV Lewis Payne and wife Mary of Warriormine, WV Kenneth Payne Hampton and wife Ebbie of Grundy, VA Daughters: Frances Underwood Husband Vernon of Lincolnton, NC Michelle Caskey and husband Harry of Catawba, NC Linda Marie Payne of Maiden, NC and companion Tony Rivera Annie Riffe husband Danny of Bradshaw, WV Mary Bailey of Bradshaw, WV A special grandson, Ronald Rose, Jr. who took care of him 28 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at the Fairview Community Church in Kegley, WV where Rev. Shubert Sweeny and Louise Sweeny officiated the service. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. The Iaeger VFW Post #1144 conducted military graveside honors. Friends called on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the church. His daughters held a graveside service honoring their father on Saturday, December 15, 2012
