John T. Stevens

Rev. John T. Stevens, age 90, of Stoney Ridge Road, Bluefield, WV died on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on August 26, 1922 in Fries, Virginia, he was a son of the late Walter and Mae Anderson Stevens. He had lived in Bluefield for the past 18 years and was a retired head supervisor for the Mercer County Board of Education. He had served his country in the US Marine Corps in WWII. He was a member and servant of the Assembly of God Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharrion Binder. Survivors include: Wife: Maxine Dixon Stevens of the home Sons: Kenneth Stevens of Townsend, DE John Stevens of Elkton, MD Bobby Stevens of Dover, DE Daughters: Mae Sirrell of Townsend, DE June Hall of Bethune, SC Kathy Liles of Bethune, SC Deborah Cahall of Lugoff, SC Sister: Bonnie Odam of Galax, VA 27 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Bluefield where military graveside honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Council.
