Bernard Emmett Arney

Bernard Emmett Arney, age 85, of 2439 Old Bramwell Road, Bluefield, WV died on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Golden Age Memory Care Center in Claypool Hill, VA. Born on September 5, 1927 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Dallas C. and Mary Cassel Arney. He attended public schools in Mercer County. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army. He had worked for the Consolidated Bus Lines and had worked at Rish Equipment Company for 34 years where he retired in 1989 as a service manager. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings and was the last surviving member of his family. Survivors: Wife of 63 years: Betty Lou Williams Arney of the home Daughter: Patricia Arney Richardson and husband Peter of Bluefield, WV Son: Larry E. Arney and wife Agnes W. Norfleet of Columbia, SC Grandchildren: Michael Richardson and wife Stephanie Elizabeth Richardson James Arney Winston Arney Graveside services will be 3:30 PM Saturday October 20, 2012 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in the Garden of the Good Shepherd in Princeton with Rev. Dot Stewart officiating. Friends may call on Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, 3431 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, WV. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 3:00 PM on Saturday.
