Betty Pauline Carner, age 93, of 9604 New Hope Road, Bluefield, WV died on Sunday October 7, 2012 at Loving Hands Nursing Home in Green Valley. “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
Born on June 2, 1919 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of Joseph and Cora Gamble Gullion. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Bluewell, a graduate of Concord College and West Virginia University and taught 35 years in Mercer and McDowell County Schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Gullion (1878 – 1963) and Cora Gamble Gulliion (1879 – 1958); her husband, Morris Carner (1921 – 1996); infant son, Wendel Joseph (1948); and siblings, Dorothea, Clayton, George, Herbert, Lula, Beulah, Charlie, Johnny, Cecil, Margie, William and Brownlow.

Daughters: Amy Oliver and husband Steve of Bluefield, WV
Lynn Mosko and husband George of Bluefield, WV
Cora Carner of Bluefield, WV
Grandchildren: Hillary Oliver, Nathaniel and Jessica Oliver, Cara Jo Vance, Joseph and Nicholas Mosko.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. James Milam officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.
Friends may call on Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
