Betty Pauline Carner

Betty Pauline Carner, age 93, of 9604 New Hope Road, Bluefield, WV died on Sunday October 7, 2012 at Loving Hands Nursing Home in Green Valley. “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” Born on June 2, 1919 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of Joseph and Cora Gamble Gullion. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Bluewell, a graduate of Concord College and West Virginia University and taught 35 years in Mercer and McDowell County Schools. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Gullion (1878 – 1963) and Cora Gamble Gulliion (1879 – 1958); her husband, Morris Carner (1921 – 1996); infant son, Wendel Joseph (1948); and siblings, Dorothea, Clayton, George, Herbert, Lula, Beulah, Charlie, Johnny, Cecil, Margie, William and Brownlow. Survivors include: Daughters: Amy Oliver and husband Steve of Bluefield, WV Lynn Mosko and husband George of Bluefield, WV Cora Carner of Bluefield, WV Grandchildren: Hillary Oliver, Nathaniel and Jessica Oliver, Cara Jo Vance, Joseph and Nicholas Mosko. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. James Milam officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Friends may call on Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
