ERIE, Pa. — Shirley A. Kennett, age 72, of Erie, Pa., passed away on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at home following a brief illness. She was born in Crystal, W.Va., on Aug. 23, 1940, daughter of the late Hayden and Gertie Spaulding.
Shirley was a founding member of Interfaith Worship Center. She was also a member of the Women's Ministry of E4N of IPHC. She enjoyed attending World Mission Conferences through the church ministry, along with camp meetings. Shirley was employed as a nursing assistant with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwest Pennsylvania and was also an associate member. She was also employed for many years with H & R Block. She loved gospel music and often attended concerts.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 48 years, the Rev. Gene Kennett; one son, Kenneth “Kenny” (Lorrie) of Fairview, Pa.; two grandchildren, Krystal and Christian “C.J.” Kennett; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, F. Eugene Kennett Jr.; siblings, Newton, Rachel, Kenneth, Mabel, Roger, and infant twins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Connie Graham officiating, and music provided by Ronnie and Mickey Kennett. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
