Barbara Otey

Barbara Ann Otey 78 of Bramwell, WV was carried by the Angels on Friday, September 14, 2012 to reunite with her loved ones in heaven. She passed away at her home with her family by her side. She lived her life with great strength, courage and sense of duty. The love and care of her family was her life’s work. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed. She was born in Coaldale, WV on April 18, 1934 to the late Earl Hunter James and Opha Jane Robbins James. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Robert (Bobby) and beloved son Jeffrey Hunter Otey. Also preceding her in death was one brother Earl (Buck) James Jr. two sisters, Grace Nester and Minnie Mae James whom she took care of for 25 years. Left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughter Deborah and husband Donald Thomas of Bramwell, WV. Sons, Mark Steven and wife Lisa Otey of Winston-Salem, NC, Robert K. Otey Jr. of Coos Bay, OR. and Timothy R. Odey of Nemours, WV, One sister Nancy Smith of Bluewell, WV, one brother Danny and wife Cathy James of Brushfork, WV, Sister in laws ; Dorothy James, Margaret Shrader, Louise Windham, Annie Helms and Betty Davidson. Grandsons; James Sluss, Hunter Otey and Mitchell Otey. Granddaughters; April Bailey, Amber Gad, Megan Thomas, Cara McCann, Lauren Church and RayLynn Otey. Six Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with her wished a private funeral service will be held where Paul Bailey, Johnny Cook, Raymond Fagg, Mitchell Otey, Thomas Gross, David Meskinish and James Sluss will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flower donations may be made to the America Cancer Society or Hospice Compassus.
